A considerable part of the parish of Brixton lies in the area designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Last year we took part in a whole range of activites to celebrate the 50th anniversary... we even mounted a wonderful exhibition of our village history ( scroll down for some photos of this!); some of us also went to the big party at Kingsbridge Fair where Graham Searle read some of his poetry. Here's a link to the AONB page where you can find a copy of his piece about Reg Hannaford.. on the same page you can link to his poem The Evening Grace, which he wrote for David Arnott and to a poem about Devon and Cornwall called The Man of The West. The web site also features some brilliant work that one the AONB staff did at St. Mary's School... and here's a link to that! |
