Venn Court is a sheltered housing facility with 41 flats in the heart of the village. As well as playing host to activities such as rounds of the Parish Quiz, the Livewires Coffee Mornings and the Brixton Bookworms, it is also the hub of the residents' activities. Joy Ridley - A Note-Able Success!

Under the guidance of local choir leader and teacher Jenny George, Joy Ridley recently took her Grade 6 examination in Music Theatre.

As well as being a Venn Court stalwart, Joy is a remarkable singer as her new qualification with the London College of Music shows. The report compliments her on "some powerful singing"; it also remarks on her "careful diction" and her ability to "express sentiment".

Congratulations are surely due to Joy from one and all.

Gwen Baker (r) and Joy Ridley (l) both entered their handicraft items into Age Concern's 2011 "Skilled Hands" Exhibition held on the 15th - 18th June at Hoegate Street.

Joy's Shetland Shawl won the Eileen Clarke Trophy for Best in Class in the knitwear section and Gwen won, for the second year in succession, the Leonard Pearce Cup for her Filet Crotchet.
